Video Recording Options
The end use of a video recording is the essential to determining the levels of labor and equipment needed. There is a world of difference between an archival recording and a full HD recording intended for Internet publication or professional video. If in doubt, please contact us for consultation on lighting, additional microphones, live switching or other supplementary services which can have a dramatic effect on the quality of your recording.
The examples below are in descending resolution and quality order. Keep in mind that the final resolution cannot be any higher than the originally recorded media.
When placing your Service Request please specify one of the following options.
High Definition (HD) Video: An AVCHD recording to an internal hard drive (SSD) or with an external recorder in other common formats. We offer a wide range of compression, conversion and editing services to ensure you get the appropriate final product. Due to the large file sizes of uncompressed HD video, we will deliver the product on a hard drive.
Standard Digital (SD) Video: This option is the low resolution seen on older televisions or DVD’s. We can transfer MPEG-2PS files to a USB flash drive or burn to a DVD using an external DVD recorder immediately after the event.
iTunes/YouTube: This option is a SD or HD recording that we convert to an M4V file for use on iTunes or one of several file formats supported by YouTube. Stanford iTunes and YouTube have strict quality control guidelines for submission which may include professional lighting and consistent audio tracks. Additional staff and equipment is often required to meet these standards. We can distribute this content either by uploading it to an external hard drives, servers or as a file on a data DVD.
